Spring has sprung and Mother Nature is slowly turning up the heat. Fashion lovers across the country are just dying to break out those maxi dresses. However, many of us are living in a climate where the mornings are extremely chilly and the afternoons are quite warm. I experienced this on a recent trip to LA, where it was surprisingly freezing in the morning and a little warm in the afternoon.
I’m based in Houston where it’s 75 degrees at 6:30am, so I found myself revisiting my fall/winter wardrobe which I had tucked away in the closet a few weeks before. During this time of year, depending on where you are in the world, the power of layering is more important than ever. So I will share with you my recipe for a basic spring look.
For this recipe you will need the following:
1 pair of jeans
1 basic t shirt
1 light jacket
1 pair of booties or ballerina flats
There is no need to preheat anything for this dish so we will go straight to the preparation.
1. As winter is over, I suggest donning a pair of light denim skinny jeans. However, this recipe will work with any cut that you choose. The most important thing is to flatter you body type.
2. Next, add a plain white tee. Or, if you are feeling a little frisky go with a bold print. I’ve found that an elongated baby doll cut helps give the allusion of a slim waist line.
3. Add a waist cut jacket to ward off those chilly moments. I’m a huge fan of suede or leather. However, it’s all about personal taste and budget.
4. Bottom the look off with your nice pair of ballerina flats or booties. I have a soft spot for ballet flats because they combine two of my favorite things; going to the ballet and fashion. However, Im also a sucker for a nice heel to lengthen the legs.
Add a dash of print via a scarf or a sprinkle of your favorite jewelry pieces and voila; you have a perfect spring look!
