Here are some bits and bobs from my old company PULSE which I co founded with my very dear friend Shelbric Fuller in Berlin, Germany. I wanted to share them with you so you could get an idea of my first start in the fashion industry. I had just moved to Berlin in 2007 and shortly got a gig doing freelance fashion sales for knitwear designer xavierxbrisoux. I had interned at University at a showroom and realized that that was what I wanted to do. I remember being so disappointed about not being placed in a buyer’s office but God always puts you were you are supposed to go.
After two seasons of freelance selling, I decided that I wasnt going to wait around to learn to speak German fluently and deal with visa issues to try and get a job in a showroom in Berlin. I’ve never felt the need to wait around for others to validate your talents, especially if you have the tools to do it yourself. It was 3 years of blood sweat and tears and I am very proud of what we managed to accomplish. I worked all over Europe, meet some great people, and I even walked in a fashion show in Athen, Greece. I looked a hot mess, but what are you going to do? It was definitely an experience that I will cherish forever. And, it taught me valuable lessons that I will carry with me as I embark on my journey to return to the fashion business.
