My Love for Louis: The Tale of My First Time

The Fall 2012 Campaign for Louis Vuitton is so impressive that I couldnt help but to be the one of the many bloggers to post on it. However, I didnt just want to repost the pics in case you haven’t seen it. So, to spice it up I’ve decided to share with you the tale of how I popped my luxury handbag cherry.

A girl never forgets her first time with luxury! I remember the feeling of holding that bag in my arms and not believing that it was all mine. There it was before me, like a dream wrapped in a big red bow. Of course in reality there was no bow. My first time involved an old shoe box and a brash, eccentric, and an unforgettable Berliner.

In case you didn’t know, while living in Berlin, before I started working freelance fashion sales, I paid the bills by helping adult Germans improve their English language skills. This particular student was a very interesting character to say the least. She had made a name for herself in the arts scene of West Berlin in the late 70′s and early 80’s. Currently, she was on her 4^th rich husband and lived in a very affluent area of Berlin. You could tell she had loved and lost but all the while held on to her artistic spirit. Her latest husband owned a major construction company that was responsible for building elderly facilities all over Germany. We had a very tight bond due to the fact that she said I reminded her alot of herself when she was my age. Even though we lived completely different lives the fact that I had moved to Germany without a solid plan was very impressive to her.

We used to talk about fashion and she would tell me stories of growing up in a city divided by a wall. I especially loved the tale of her being searched coming back from the East, and how they didn’t find her joint because she had stashed it between her legs. LOVE!

Due to our many discussions she knew that my all time favorite luxury brand for leather goods is and always will be Louis Vuitton. In my opinion no one does it better. So this particular day when I arrived for our lesson she presented me with a shoebox and inside that box was one of her old Louis Vuittons handbags that she had acquired from an ex husband. She told me she wanted me to have it and to always remember her. I couldn’t stop thanking her and in true blunt German fashion she looks at me with a straight face and says.

“This is no worry. You don’t have the money to buy one any time soon.”LOLOLOL. Thank you Greta for making my first time so memorable!

Solange Knowles All About Style!

I first would like to apologize for the cheesy title but I just couldn’t help myself. LOL

She may not have the level of fame as her older sister but one thing you cannot ignore is, what she lacks in vocal talent she makes up for in effortless style. Not only has she made her name as a fashionista but she also a popular DJ. I actually had the pleasure of attending an opening for the Miu Miu boutique in the Galleria in Houston where she was playing. It was a blogging nightmare for me, but I did get to meet her and snap this lovely photo.

So last night as I was flipping randomly through celebrity images I came across on of her photos and decided to further investigate Ms. Knowles’ style choices. I always knew who she was. However, this was the first time that I took notice of how stylish she was. Between her natural hair style, her head wraps, and quirky combos, I think she has definitely carved out her own slice of the the fashion pie. Gone Girl!!!! Here are some of my favs. Enjoy!

This Weekend I Climbed My Everest!

This weekend I climbed my Everest. Of course Im not referring to the mountain, I’m referring to the fact that I faced a fear that was placed into me after a near fatal motorbike accident. A few years ago while vacationing in Greece me and my ex BF decided to rent a bike while on the island. Both of us had had previous experience riding so it wasn’t anything new. About 3 days into the holiday, I met a very tricky sharp turn and found myself flying off the bike going head first into a stone wall. I lost my eyesight for about an hour and suffered a skinned knee cap, a concussion, a gashed foot, and bruised ribs. The near fatal part lies in the state of my crash helmet, which was not only crushed inward but has also picked up a nail which was now embedded into the helmet. I should probably also mention that, of the three days we had the bike, this was the first time that I decided to wear the helmet. This is another reason why I believe in guardian angels.

After a short stay in the emergency room, a painful recovery and a ruined 2 week holiday, I told myself that I would never ever get back on a bike again. Not that I was ever some serious riding enthusiasts but I’ve always enjoyed riding whenever I got the opportunity and enjoyed it very much. The accident happened 8 years ago and for the first time since then, I decided to not let fear keep me from doing something that I enjoyed. So I got back on the horse, so to speak, and went riding with my friend on his new bike. I loved every minute of it.

No more letting fear keep me from me from having experiences. Life is too short!
